Personality: Valynn is often level headed and diplomatic.  She seeks to resolve most conflicts peacefully, but she can be pushed to violence in protection of another and to stop evil.  Cracking jokes (usually at her Norn husband, Gigas Lionhart's, expense) is something she does on good days.  On bad days, when a mission may not go so well, she will withdrawal and become sullen.  On those days she usually has Elspeth Silvermoon handle matters with Serenity Moon.  

Brief Physical Description:  Valynn is of mid height for a Norn female, with a hard muscular body.  Her hair is of a medium brown with golden highlights, while her eyes have a light copper or golden (depends on her mood) iris.  Most would describe her as beautiful with her alabaster white skin that glows in comparison to her darker hair and eyes.

Brief Background Story:  Valynn is the daughter of Kristoffer Helmsbane and Vigdis Karlsdotter , the legendary Guardian and Warrior couple who helped in the early days of fighting Jormag and his minions.  She grew up hearing the tales of their  great conquests and hunts, and knew that defending Tyria against Jormag and other threats would be her destiny as well.  

Her father and mother died on one such hunt against one of Jormag's generals.  She was eight years old, and they'd brought her on the hunt with them.  After tracking the general's lair, they'd left Valynn to care for the camp.  She waited for them for nearly a week before she was found by a savage looking female Norn covered in animal hides and wild eyed.  The old Guardian said she'd seen her parents and they asked her to relay a message: "Tell her we love her, and to be brave.  Follow the Light, Dear Valynn".  This woman claimed she wandered upon their battle with the general, but it was too late and both her parents were killed.  They gave her this message with their dying breaths.  This savage woman, Siri, would come to raise Valynn, teaching her the ways of the Light as well as strong morals and virtues that serve her still to this day.

With the teachings of her Father and Mother, along with Siri's, Valynn kept the Shiverpeaks safe for years until she finally decided to join The Vigil.  Eventually she met her dear husband there, and they were married soon after.  Gigas shared  Valynn's desire to serve and protect Tyria, and it quickly became apparent what needed to be done.  Despite how well they hit it off, Siri didn't approve of their marriage at first because she did not deem Gigas worthy.  She was eventually won over by his charm, and seeing how deeply he loved and cherished Valynn.

One hot summer day in Lion's Arch, Valynn and Gigas Lionhart founded Serenity Moon.  The purpose of their new organization was to help all orders and races of Tyria against any wrong doing.  This could be anything from defending against the Elder dragon's threat to rescuing someone's lost kitten.  Now they seek to recruit and add to their ranks, and Valynn couldn't be happier.

Brief Physical Description: Elspeth has ample curves with spring green cellulose skin that can glow a soft lilac color in the dark.  Her face is round, but her features are pretty and pronounced.  Her bright and happy light purple eyes are a perfect contrast to her green skin, as are her more deep purple head leaves.  Her clothing is usually bright and multi-colored.

Brief Background Story: After awakening, Elspeth spent her first year relishing life in The Grove.  It was here that she met her forever partner, Arbor.  She and Arbor decided to follow the human tradition of a Surname, and together decided on Silvermoon for it's beauty and mystery.  Together the pair joined the Priory to further their magical knowledge.  It was here she encountered Valynn Lionhart who offered her a position in Serenity Moon.  She agreed provided Arbor was able to come as well.  Valynn agreed wholeheartedly, and over the next two years Elspeth and Valynn became very close friends.  This resulted in Valynn trusting no one but her own husband more than Elspeth, and now Elspy has a position as Valynn's right hand.  She often acts as Serenity Moon's leader in Valynn and Gigas' stead when they must be away on missions.

Name: Psyche (Truhart) Arcana

Personality: (Strengths/Weaknesses/Idiosyncrasies) Psyche is kind, friendly, loving, and passionate about issues pertaining to the fair treatment of others.  She is very "girly",  and hates getting dirty.  She isn't so opposed to it that she won't get dirty should the situation require it.  Rarely, Psyche is taken over by emotion that causes her to go into Psychic comas.  During these comas she can harm others unfortunate enough to be around her.  When she wakes, she rarely remembers what happened during said episodes.  

Brief Physical Description: Psyche has a healthy build with ample curves.  She used to color her full shiny hair light caramel blonde, and there was a brief time she colored it a pretty dark turquoise.  Now, she keeps it one shade darker than her natural dark brown, coloring it Chocolate Black.  She likes the new darker tone to match with Falcon's recent change in appearance.  With a round pretty face and unusual sparkling golden eyes, Psyche is an exotic looking beauty, often attracting the attentions of both gentlemen and unsavory types.

Brief Background Story: Psyche was born to commoners Randall and Isabella Truhart.  Initially she had a brother and sister who are younger than she.  Things were happy in her family and upbringing for the most part.

Randall is a musician and Isabella is quite a talented seamstress.  Both these professions provide enough for her family, and they were not often lacking.  Randall and Isabella are loving parents whose own love is apparent to those around them.  There would be times that Randall would lose his voice from performing nightly.  Since he was unable to work while it healed, Isabella was forced to sew until her fingers were raw to make extra money for them.

When Psyche was eight years old, she happened upon a chubby little brat boy making fun of her sister.  Theresa talked funny for a four year old, which is why she couldn't say Psyche's name right and ended up calling her "Key".  The chubby brat was calling her "Fat tongue" and "dumbie dumb dumb".  This angered Psyche greatly, and even though she was normally a peaceful and caring girl, she slipped into her first psychic coma.  The little boy had to be hospitalized for a time from what happened that day, and Psyche is still disturbed by what she had done.  Besides her family, she's only revealed to Falcon exactly what happened that day.

Then, when Psyche was twelve, her brother, William who was ten, was murdered by bandits while in Queensdale.  He'd wandered away from Randall to a nearby cave where he was abducted and later killed.  Randall, being a powerful mesmer, remote located his son and told Logan about what had happened.  Logan and the seraph were able to arrest the bandits.  Before the ones responsible had been thrown in prison for life, Logan allowed Psyche and her family to have words with them.  Psyche went into another psychic coma from seeing them.  This resulted in their minds being broken just like the little chubby brats had.  This time, Psyche didn't regret it quite so much, but still didn't intend on hurting anyone.

The rest of her teens passed pretty normally, and Psyche grew into a lovely young woman.  She developed a close friendship with a girl named Petra, who runs the Salma tavern and inn with her dad, Andrew.  She often attracted the attentions of men, but rarely even would go on one date with them.  Psyche just wasn't interested in men who only wanted her for superficial reasons.  In general life wasn't bad, and things went pretty normally until a fated day when Theresa was kidnapped by pirates.   Lord Falcon Arcana helped her rescue Theresa, and after a brief courtship, the two fell in love and were married.

The next three years were mainly good.  But there were issues with the marriage.  Psyche didn't feel she could open up to Falcon for fear she'd upset him.  He was never harsh or abusive to her, but she felt this way nonetheless.  It was a leftover belief from how she's seen her parents interact.  Falcon himself was more subdued around her, showing less of his outgoing snarky nature.  It was almost as if he saw her as emotionally fragile and was not able to be as carefree with her as he was with others because he did not ever want to hurt her.  In time, the threads of their marriage began to tear since the two could not truly be who they were with one another.  Psyche broke up with Falcon for two days, and during that time had a brief affair with Calamus, a sylvan mesmer who'd worked for Cassidy Spark's mother Morgana for years.  Falcon turned to the comforts of Lady Victoria Tsukikage during that time.  Despite Psyche and Falcon coming back together to try and make the marriage work, it was not to be.  Victoria ended up pregnant, and Psyche saw this as the last straw.  She could not bear to be married to a man who had another woman pregnant.

Through it all, Lord Draven Darkcastle was there for her, and in time they too became very close.  Draven proposed to Psyche soon after, but after only a short engagement, Psyche realized the only man that would ever truly have her heart was indeed Falcon.  After talking things out, Falcon has agreed once more to trust Psyche and try to make it work.  They plan to remarry, and have already started trying for a child together.

Brief Physical Description: Valkari's beauty is legendary.  She has ample curves along with musculature beyond any human male's ability to gain.  With alabaster skin, violet eyes, and rich brown hair, she matches any vision of the legendary Norse Valkyrie's.  Her cheeks have a ruddy, blushed appearance, and she holds a ready smile.

Brief Background Story: Valkari's childhood was a happy one.  She has loving parents who took the time to teach her many things about the Norn and their history.  They are honorable people that always seek to help those in need, a trait Valkari picked up from them and practices often.  

As a young Norn of seventeen years, she'd set off to find glory.  Since her parents instilled a love for knowledge and history in her, she sought out to find the Priory.  She'd been trained as a warrior from nine years old, so when the Priory saw how well she could defend them along with her intelligence, she was a shoo in.

She readily took a mission from them to the Northern Shiverpeaks where she was to study some old Norn ruins from the time of Jora 250 years ago.  It was here she met the handsome Norn guardian named Bjorn Moonsson who was with a Vigil patrol guarding the ruins for the Priory.  It was nearly love at first sight.  Within the year they were married.

The first two years of their marriage were happy for Valkari.  They travelled together seeking glory,  making a name for themselves among the Norn.  She felt that their love was strong and passionate.  Bjorn was outspoken and filled with good humor.  He always had a kind word and shared Valkari's passion for helping those in need.  She looked up to and revered Bjorn, thanking Bear daily for her good fortune in meeting him to be her mate.

One day, Valkari was hunting for food while Bjorn stayed at their camp, waiting for her to return.  He'd pulled a muscle the day before, and despite being a guardian, still needed to rest up while the leg healed completely.  When she'd returned after being gone several hours, Valkari found their camp in chaos.  Bjorn lay face down near the unlit camp fire.  His body had been ravaged.  Valkari released a great yell that rang throughout the valley for miles.  Part of her spirit - her life force - died that day.

Around one year after Bjorn's apparent death, she met and fell in love with her true spirit partner, Lukas Spark. They spent almost every day together, and within a few weeks, Lukas bought a steading for them to live in together. She and Lukas then surprisingly found Bjorn alive during a mission against the Inquest, discovering he had been cyberbnetically altered into a controlled soldier by Vexa, the daughter of the Inquest scientist Klax, and Lukas' creator. After Lukas was able to rescue Bjorn, and he returned to Hoelbrak, Valkari was torn between the two. Although her heart pulled her towards Lukas, the familiarity, love, and duty she felt towards her husband led to an attempted reconciliation with him. In another twist though, Lukas was able to reveal that Bjorn had always been in love with Valkari's best friend Iduna Vesperden, which devastated Valkari.  Realizing her marriage had been a lie, she and Bjorn's connection was completely severed, allowing Valkari to finally be with her true love Lukas without hesitation.

Five months ago now, Valkari met Gigas Lionhart, who initiated her into Serenity Moon.   Shortly after, Lukas was initiated in as well.  Together with Lukas and  Moon she seeks to save and protect others.

Brief Physical Description: Tall and the image of physical perfection, Leon has golden blond hair and deep blue eyes.  With a square jaw and friendly expression, he is often hit on by many of the noblewomen he's known.

Brief Background Story: Leon was born to Lord Gregory and Lady Audrey Dunamis.  Three years later his brother Tristan was born.  The two boys were raised with love and taught how to be honest and compassionate men from their mother and father.  Throughout his teen years, Leon stayed by the side of his love Lady Christina Hargrove.  They were engaged by seventeen.  

Despite being a noble, Leon wasn't very interested in the politics of nobility, but he completed all the studies his father asked of him.  Still, when he was eighteen he choose to join the Seraph.  Having been trained in the Guardian magics, he felt this was how he could best serve his people.  Shortly after joning the Seraph, Christina was murdered by bandits.  Leon was unable to save her, which forced him to throw himself even more into his duty.  It wasn't long before he became a Seraph Lieutenant.

Leon met Falcon Arcana at Seraph Headquarters one day after Falcon had come to Captain Thakaery for help with Evelyn Morgana.  Captain Thakaery assigned Leon to the case along with a small detail of Seraph to patrol Falcon's home and the surrounding area.  During this time he met and fell in love with Cassidy, the love of his life - his sweet princess.  Protecting her from Morgana consumed him, and finally with Falcon, Psyche, many Seraph, and ultimately Cassidy's help, they prevailed against the Dark lady Morgana.

Now he lives in Ossan Quarter with Cassidy in their fancy but not too big home.  He transferred to Moon at Cassidy's request so that they could spend more time together.  This he was happy to do for her.  Since he is cousin to Falcon Arcana and Valynn Lionhart, he was also happy to join the organization to work with family.  Valynn and Gigas quickly made him a Lieutenant, and he is often in charge of many of the missions Moon takes; especially those involving detective work.

Personality: Astrid is insecure because as a young Norn she was sickly and small and relentlessly picked on by other Norn children.   To those who are close to her she may express the feeling that she is still weak and soft.  Now she likes to come across fierce and powerful.  Overall though, Astrid comes across as mildly shy while being polite -  at least for a Norn.

Brief Physical Description: Astrid is on the tall side of average height for a Norn.  She has smooth pale skin bearing intricate scroll tattoos on both her shoulders in navy blue ink.  Her hair is a fiery orange red and her eyes are fiercely green and clear.  Her look is overall natural and beautiful.

Brief Background Story:  Astrid had a happy life with her mother and father at their homestead in the wilds of the Shiverpeaks.  Her father was more of an intellectual than a warrior.  He spent his time writing down some of the legends and stories of the Norn for younger generations to read of, and not only to hear about at moots. Instead, it was her mother who taught her the bow and how to live in the wild - skills she would come to greatly depend on.  When she was 17 her family's homestead was attacked by an ice-brood shaman.  Both her parents were killed, and Astrid herself was only spared because she was knocked unconscious and appeared to be dead.  

Devastated by her family's destruction, Astrid decided to live away from everyone else as deep into the wild as she could go.  Her only companion, Ellida, her faithful Arctic Wolf.  She liked it this way.  It meant she couldn't be hurt again, or experience loss like the loss she felt from her parents' deaths. Despite a few rare liaisons with the random Norn warriors who would happen upon her from time to time, she really didn't socialize with other Norn.   It was one such liaison that turned into her salvation.

Something that was meant to be brief and last only one night has turned into a strong love for Captain Aleks Stormkin of the Lion Guard.  He encouraged her to come stay with him in Hoelbrak after their night together due to concern for her living alone in the wild.  Something about him was different and made her feel she could trust him, so she did move to his homestead in Hoelbrak.  Eventually, he even revealed to her that his parents were killed under similar circumstances.

Since then they have grown very close - their love growing very strong, and Astrid even joined the Lion Guard to work closely with Aleks.  She is working on her people skills and trying to get to know some of Aleks' friends; namely Lukas Spark and Valkari Moonsdotter.  She has even gone with him to meet people in Serenity Moon.

Overall she is much happier being around other Norn and people in general.  She is learning that you can love without the fear of loss.  In time, she and Aleks will stop those who hurt their parents. For now, they seek glory together in the Lion Guard and help wherever they are needed.

Personality: Anjika is very strong-willed.  There aren't many situations that she cannot gain the upper hand in.  She isn't that warm to those she's just met, but she is always polite.  To those close to her she can be sweet and more cordial, however.

Brief Physical Description: Anjika has creamy pale skin that is flawless save for some scars on her stomach.  She has a round face with pouty full lips that she loves to keep red with her favorite lipstick.  She has large almond shaped brown eyes, and an upturned nose.  With straight raven black hair cut with bangs to frame her beautiful face, her dramatic glamorous look is complete.  

Brief Background Story: Lady Anjika Morgenstern was born in Divinity's reach to mother Lady Meredith Morgana, sister to the late Evelyn Morgana who was Cassidy Spark's mother.  Though Lady Meredith and Anjika's father, Lord Seth Morgenstern, briefly dated, they were never married.  Meredith had her eyes on another married noblemen, so she stayed available for the day he may be free to be with her.

Growing up, Anjika spent a lot of time with her father, and the two grew close.  Lord Seth was a powerful Necromancer who knew how to play the noble political game well.  He was kind to Anjika, but did not always instill the best values into her.  Time spent with her mother did not teach her any better how to think with virtue.  Between her mother's insistence she try to gain power from others with spells and devious actions and hearing of how her Aunt Evelyn gained power by doing the same, she was left with little to teach her a more noble path to gaining her desires.

It wasn't until she almost died kidnapping Lord Leon Dunamis that she was forced to re-evaluate her methods.  She wanted to use Leon to lure Cassidy into a trap to kill her for not joining Evelyn as she should have, and for being a possible rival to Anjika and her desires for power.  After Serenity Moon defeated her and rescued Leon, Anjika was rescued from certain death by her father's magic, and nursed back to health by him.

Now, she is left trying to learn how to be good and leave behind her devious insidious ways.  Time will tell if this once villian can become honorable and noble.

Personality: Tanuna is usually very friendly and polite unless you see her in one of the rare times she's annoyed with someone.  In those cases she'll use her intellect to try to belittle the person, being a bit nasty.  She is cutsie, but can also act a bit sly as she is very confident in her abilities as an engineer and her superior smarts.

Brief Physical Description:  Tanuna is of average asuran height with pale pink skin, light peach dread locked hair with dyed blue tips, and soft large violet eyes.  A lot of Norn and Humans compare her to one of their toddlers, which doesn't bother Noona at all as she thinks their progeny are quite cute.

Brief Background Story:  Tanuna was born of an affluent family in Rata Sum. Both her Mother, Yinnk, and her Father, Tymick, graduated with Top honors from the college of Dynamics.  Their marriage was orchestrated by their parents to produce the most ingenious progeny.  They were not disapointed with Tanuna as she also graduated with high honors from the college of Dynamics after creating the transatmospheric converter.

This is where their pride in her stops because of her choice to marry who they call "the blue collar simpleton" Crash Schprocket.  This causes them a great deal of grief, but she cares little for their disdain of her marriage as she chose to marry her true hearts desire.  A marriage of practicality never appealed to her.

She met Crashy in the Order of Whispers, which she joined shortly after her graduation from college.  They instantly hit it off partly due to their mutual love of creating useful gadgets and machinery.  Tanuna loves making useful toys such as her Teddy Bear that will also clean your unmentionables, while Crashy favors making more combat oriented machines.  Together they are a formidable team who have never failed a mission.

Gigas Lionhart, Co-Leader of Serenity Moon, heard of Crash through the Order.  With such a good reputation for successful missions, Gigas asked Crash to join Moon.  Crash told Gigas of his wife, Tanuna, and Gigas agreed she'd be a great addition to the group as well.  Now Tanuna and Crash work as Special Ops Agents for Moon.

Brief Physical Description:  Opposite his brother, Leon, Tristan has a thin build with a soft muscle tone, Most will usually see Tristan wearing his robes, and Leon often calls him "Wiz" short for Wizard.  He usually wears his well maintained blonde hair in a ponytail, and his handsome face is often adorned with his glasses.

Brief Background Story:  Growing up in Leon's shadow, Tristan learned to handle things with a bit of humor and lightheartedness.  Some would say he takes his nobility too lightly, however - especially his mother, Audrey.  His father usually takes him with a grain of salt, but is unable to joke quite as much as Tristan, leaving the two a little distant compared with Gregory's relationship to Leon.

As a young boy, Tristan would use his budding mesmeric powers to play little tricks on his family and their friends.  Sometimes he'd make the men's pants disappear, embarrassing them at fancy dinners as they were in only their underpants.  Sometimes he'd make the cat appear on ladies heads who had high up hairdos.  He'd get no end of enjoyment from these silly tricks, but soon he grew out of them as puberty hit.

Tristan found books and girls to be his biggest weakness as a young teen.  When he wasn't learning new things while reading, he was thinking of ways to get the latest girl of the week to go out with him.  Even though he dated many girls he always behaved as a gentlemen, and never took advantage of any of them.  

As he began approaching his later teens and with no real focus, Tristan decided to join the Seraph.  Even though this seemed to follow in his brother's footsteps, he did it for his own reasons.  Now he operates as an infiltration and intelligence specialist for the Seraph, but isn't completely satisfied.  Leon keeps asking him to join Moon, which Tristan considered for a long while.  He finally gave in and joined after some trouble he had gotten into with the Seraph.

Each day after work, when he was with the Seraph, Tristan would look to see if Theresa was outside the headquarters in Divinity's Reach.  It was a highlight to each day seeing her there reading, and getting to know her as they talked candidly about love and life.  Seeing her is still the bright spot in his day even now.  He is a lot happier since joining Serenity Moon, where he can see Theresa daily.  She works at a little outlet clothing store that Cassidy Spark has opened there.

Brief Physical Description: Signe is a bit on the shorter side for a lady Norn.  Her build is curvy, and one would notice that while she's not fat, she's not afraid to eat a cupcake or two.  Her face is round and pretty with shining emerald green eyes.  Dark Blonde hair adorns her head, and is cut in a stylish short bob of a hairdo.  Her style of dress is utilitarian and usually in subtle pink hues.  You'll mostly see her wearing her furry leather coat with her wrench-like hammer on her back.

Brief Background Story:  Signe met Aksel when she was sixteen.  He was rugged and wild with handsome features and an adventurous way about him.  Naive about love and easily drawn in by his charm, she ended up getting pregnant.  When Aksel found this out he left her to be with another Norn named Inga Varden.  He'd told Signe he didn't want to be tied down, and this left Signe to raise their daughter on her own.  However, Signe never felt that Elsa was a burden. Instead she felt blessed to have her little girl.

For three years Signe raised little Elsa on her own.  Her parents lived a ways off from her and would help when possible, but usually it was just Signe and her little one alone.  Each night before bed Elsa would sing a sweet song of words she'd made up about wolves.  A wolf pack that roamed nearby would howl in the same key as her song at night.  Signe always thought her wee Elsa's singing voice was so precious and beautiful.  During the day the wolf pack would come close to the house, and since Elsa was of Wolf clan, she'd sing to them then as well.  They'd stay for the whole song, seemingly listening to her.

It was on a day that seemed like any other when Signe sat completely enthralled by creating SID, her utility gyro.  She could have sworn it'd only been a few minutes, but in reality it was more like thirty since she'd heard the sounds of Elsa playing nearby.  When she finally realized she didn't hear her anymore she looked up to find her gone.  Rushing outside in a panic she didn't see Elsa anywhere.  So she searched nearby.  She dreaded having to check the ravine behind the house, and it was with a tentative peek she found Elsa there lying beside a dead wolf pup.  Elsa had met the same fate trying to rescue the little thing.

Signe was beside herself with grief for weeks, and on top of that Aksel didn't even know his little girl was dead.  It was the mother wolf who finally roused Signe from her depressed stupor.  She'd come by Signe's house each day almost as if to check on her.  Encouraged that if the wolf pup's mother could continue on bravely, then so too could she.  It seemed a sign from Wolf himself.

It was just later that same week she was in Hoelbrak where she saw a recruitment poster for Serenity Moon.  Intrigued, she inquired about the organization and decided to interview with Commander Leon Dunamis.  She showed him her gyro and explained her range of abilities and talents building and creating machinery.  Leon was impressed and initiated her in shortly after.  Now, Signe feels she can create a legacy for her Elsa by doing good with Moon in her  name.

A few days ago she met Kaelan Stormkin and Talis Heimlass in the guild Head Quarters at The Lost Precipice.  Since they knew Inga when Signe mentioned her to them, they we able to later to question her.  With relief they relayed what Inga had told them to Signe.  Inga said that she'd stopped having anything to do with Aksel when she found out he had a daughter and wasn't helping to raise her.  This eased some of Signe's pain to know.

Personality: Varian is usually care-free, however he despises the teachings of Ventari greatly and will express this openly. He often follows his whims that tend to lead to various physical pleasures. Sometimes he can come across as rude and uncaring, but on occasion can show profound acts of compassion. Varian is not quite as curious acting as other young Sylvans. He has quite an inflated sense of confidence, shunning anything he considers weak. Along with that, he also thinks he is quite handsome, remarking about it from time to time in conversations with females he finds attractive. Overall, Varian's demeanor seems mostly arrogant.

Brief Background Story: One year ago, Varian awakened with a Wyld Hunt. In the Dream, he found himself surrounded by aimless Mordrem. He fought and killed some of them, but was able to speak to a few others who changed back to normal Sylvari. He realized upon waking that this meant he was to seek out Mordrem, kill those who could not be converted back to normal, and try to rehabilitate others. Finding this task both mundane and scary, the latter of which he'd not admit easily, he ran from Astoria.

In addition to a Wyld Hunt he hated, he also awakened with Revenant abilities. He hated that he could hear the voices of the long dead legends. It was disconcerting, and unsure if others could hear the voices, he did his best to hide his talents. Acting as if he were merely a warrior, he wandered the Krytan wilderness for about three months. The Dream taught him about Ventari's tablet, but he felt like he didn't agree with those philosophies. So, it became apparent to him that he not only wanted to escape his Wyld Hunt, but also the lifestyle of those who followed the Pale Mother. Unfortunately this left him with no direction.

On his travels through the wilderness he met Merrida, a powerful Sylvari mesmer. Upon spending some time with her she made him feel safe, and he opened up to her about the Wyld Hunt and his abilities as a Revenant. Merrida revealed that she led the Briarthorn branch of Nightmare Court, and encouraged him to use his abilities more to stretch them to their limits and see how strong he could become. She also shared with him the philosophies of Nightmare, and how he could remove himself from his Wyld Hunt forever. This appealed to Varian greatly, and soon he became an errand boy for Merrida. He fell in love with her, though he hates to admit it. She never would requite his love, but merely keep him hanging on the edge, teasing him with the offer to become her personal Courtier Bodyguard.

Seven months later he was performing his greatest task to date for Merrida, when he met Fiona Lightmoon in an abandoned part of Tarir. After a few chance encounters where the two talked a little bit, he finally opened up to Fiona about his intention to join Nightmare. Two days later he ran into Calamus (a former Sylvan follower of Evelyn Morgana) who posed as Malacus. He pretended to friend Varian so as to gain information on Briarthorn and Merrida that he would later report back to the Wardens in the Grove. Varian had happily told him what he wanted to know because he was ignorant of Calamus' ruse. Since Calamus and Fiona knew one another, she was able to discover that Varian was at Briarthorn. This was something that he himself had not told her.

As Varian lie sleeping in his Nightmare pod, Fiona woke him and tried to convince him to leave with her. She also told him that she tried to heal his wounds from the torture Kellan and Merrida subjected him to prior to putting him in the Nightmare pod. Despite Varian doing everything Merrida wanted, she reneged on her promise to make him her personal bodyguard. Between this and Fiona helping him, he was on the fence about whether to leave or stay. Before he could really make up his mind to leave with Fiona though, the choice was made for him. Kellan, who was Merrida's bodyguard, questioned why Fiona was at Varian's pod. Even though she was disguised, he was still suspicious and grabbed Fiona to take her to Merrida. Varian knew Merrida would torture Fiona, knowing she wasn't actually a Courtier, and instead thinking she was a spy. Using his Legendary Mallyx demon stance, Varian rescued Fiona from Kellan, and they both raced out of Briarthorn.

Now Varian is devastated that Merrida thinks he's betrayed her to run off with a spy. She vows to find him and make him pay for his treachery.
