Brief Background Story: Gigas grew up in Holbrak adopted by Norn parents, after being found as a baby by a Lionguard officer named Greymore, and brought to Hoelbrak after being mistaken for a Norn child. He later lived in Divinity's Reach for a time as an adult, where he held odd jobs before joining the Vigil. He eventually founded the Serenity of the Night [moon] guild with Valynn, a fellow Vigil member who later became his wife. He has a pet tabby cat named Odin that he adopted as a stray, who is often particularly good at telling whether people are dangerous or not.

Personality: Easy-going and charismatic. Has a strong sense of justice, and tends to be quite merciful despite being an aggressive and intimidating fighter in combat. Can seem somewhat simplistic on the surface, but is a strong leader and brilliant battle tactician when required. He always tries to look out for his guild members, and his approachable demeanor can often lead him to inadvertently becoming a counselor of sorts for others' personal problems.

Combat Abilities: Specializing in defensive tactics and having naturally high strength and endurance allows Gigas to act seemingly reckless and offensive in combat without putting himself at much actual risk. He tends to think best in the moment, and rarely goes into battle with a detailed plan ahead of time. He has recently added a growing knowledge of gadgetry to his combat arsenal after learning from fellow guild member Crash Schprocket.

Favorite Weapon: A runic hammer crafted for him by his adopted Norn family.

Interesting Fact: Despite it believed to be impossible, Gigas has traces of Norn DNA, as confirmed by the Arcane Council after Gigas let them take a sample of his blood for analysis. This was recently explained when he met his nefarious creator Klax, an evil Inquest scientist who experimented with bonding Norn and Human DNA together in an attempt to create a super soldier.

Brief Background Story: Falcon's nobility parents died when he was a young age, and grew up on his own with his parents' wealth. He often got into trouble, especially playing tricks using his elemental magic on his family servants who looked after him. He eventually gave up his care-free and somewhat reckless and irresponsible lifestyle after he met and fell in love with his wife, Psyche Truhart-Arcana.

Personality: He can come across as sarcastic, rebellious, and sometimes even arrogant, but also has a strong sense of righteousness and will help out people in need. He considers himself a ladies man, and will especially go out of his way to rescue damsels in distress.

Combat Abilities: Falcon's natural mastery over the elements, especially fire, makes him a very capable ranged fighter. He is often able to analyze combat situations and take advantage of enemy weaknesses without putting himself at unnecessary risk. Rather than valuing a fair fight, Falcon will often use any means he can to succeed.

Favorite Weapon: An ornate staff which he has infused with an heirloom jewel core from the original Falcon Arcana's fire staff.

Interesting Fact: Gigas and Valynn Lionhart helped Falcon trace his lineage to the original Falcon Arcana (my Elementalist from GW1) and Faith Dunamis (V's Monk from GW1). This makes Falcon distant cousins to several others, including Leon and Tristan Dunamis, Valene Arcana, and Hawke Phoenix.

Brief Background Story: Crash grew up in Rata Sum, but was often looked down upon for his lack of book smarts. Instead of entering a prestigious research academy, he instead used his knack for machinery to become a Golem mechanic and gadgetry tinkerer. He later joined the Order of Whispers, before transferring out of it into Serenity of the Night after being recruited by Gigas, who recognized his capabilities and thought he was "pretty cool for an Asura".

Personality: Witty, crafty, and sort of a smart-ass at times. What Crash lacks in book smarts he makes up for in street smarts. Although generally unselfish, he's also a bit of an opportunist, sometimes taking advantage of ways he sees that he can make money.

Combat Abilities: Crash utilizes a wide variety of tools and weaponry to maximum effect, preferring quantity over quality to become a versatile one-man arsenal of destruction. His training in the Order of Whispers makes him confident and capable in combat, and he prides himself on holding the best mission success ratio in the guild, even over Gigas.

Favorite Weapon: Crash typically carries a gun, but makes more use out of the weapon kits he equips, mostly focusing on a variety of explosives.

Interesting Fact: Crash is quite large and muscular for an Asura, contributing even more to other Asura seeing him as a "meathead".

Brief Background Story: Arbor gained a lot of knowledge in the dream, and when he came out of it he was more knowledgeable than most other Sylvari about the world. He joined the Priory, and then was recruited into Serenity of the Night by Gigas and Valynn when they crossed paths and worked together on a mission.

Personality: Very calm and collected, staying focused under almost any amount of pressure. He can seem somewhat emotionless on the surface at times, but he holds a deep emotional bond with those he considers his friends and family. He highly values both learning and teaching, and has taken on a role of mentor and magical trainer to others from both the guild and the Priory.

Combat Abilities: Arbor has very adept control over his Mesmer abilities, and uses his mental prowess to effectively manipulate and control combat situations.

Favorite Weapon: A jeweled staff, of similar design to the one used by Raven Arcana (my GW1 mesmer).

Interesting Fact: Although in most ways Arbor is very typical for a Sylvari, he is quite interested in human fashion, and enjoys wearing stylish human clothing.

Brief Background Story: Sanctum was born a Sylvari Guardian, but more interested in human culture and asuran and human technology. He moved to Lion's Arch for a time to persue his interests, and even joined the Lionguard briefly, before joining the Serenity of the night guild at Arbor's request.

Personality: Easy-going and friendly, but can seem somewhat unprofessional and apathetic. Lacks concern for Sylvari ways, preferring to learn about whatever catches his interest. Can sometimes clash with Arbor's more serious and professional demeanor.

Combat Abilities: Sanctum uses a typical Guardian defense, focused on creating magical shields and other defensive abilities.

Favorite Weapon: Rather than traditional weaponry, he prefers using a variety of objects he finds along his travels, often picking up mundane objects to see how well they are able to channel his magic. As a result, his assortment of weapons includes such things as a wrench, rake, lamp post, and manhole cover.

Interesting Fact: Sanctum and Arbor were born from the same pod, making them a rare case of true biological Sylvari siblings. Aside from their similar appearance, this has also given them a limited form of telepathy with one another, allowing them to always be able to intuitively locate each other's whereabouts in the world.

Brief Background Story: Hawke was born into loving nobility family, and had a fairly happy and regular childhood, until his Seraph father was killed by a pirate by the name of Daniel Starr when he was 9 years old. Hawke grew into adulthood focused on following his father's path of bringing criminals to justice, and hoping to someday apprehend his father's killer. After enlisting in the Seraph for a time, he eventually transferred into the Vigil, seeking to gain a wider scope of potential to apprehend criminals than his father had. He rose to the rank of Captain quickly, gaining command over his own Vigil warship, and gaining a reputation as a highly effective pirate hunter.

Personality: Honorable and tenacious, a strong leader, and highly respected by his subordinates. He has a generally high respect for the law, and very strong values of justice and protecting the innocent. He is also very merciful and compassionate, to the point of not wanting to kill even criminals unless absolutely necessary.

Combat Abilities: Highly trained by his years in the Vigil, Hawke is calm and focused in combat situations, allowing him to subdue and apprehend most opponents quickly and effectively.

Favorite Weapon: Hawke uses specially custom-made mechanical equipment designed using Asuran technology, including a bow which fires energized arrows able to stun enemies into unconsciousness without killing them.

Interesting Fact: Hawke's mother's maiden name is Arcana, making him a distant relative of Falcon Arcana.

Brief Background Story: Lukas was found as a baby by a Lionguard soldier named Guldar, and mistakenly thought to be human. He was then adopted by a human family in Lions Arch, and grew up knowing it as home. When he became an adult, he joined a thieves guild called "The Black Tigers" for a time, mostly serving as their muscle and intimidation factor. Although he never participated in anything for serious than thievery and minor assault, he came to resent his decision, and eventually left the gang. Using the combat techniques he had learned from other thieves, he started teaching others hand to hand combat techniques, opening his own training business. Recently he has been going to Hoelbrak to connect with his obvious Norn roots, where he met and fell in love with Valkari Moonsdotter.

Personality: Kind, passionate, and honorable, but a little rough around the edges. Tends to live in the moment, and can be easily swayed by his emotions. He enjoys combat, but doesn't like hurting people unless they deserve it. In contrast to this, he is very protective over those he cares about, and will become ferocious against anyone threatening them. Although he is generally very confident in himself and his fighting abilities, he often tends to act rather humble, especially about his fighting prowess in particular when talking about it.

Combat Abilities: Lukas is a talented hand-to-hand combat specialist, using his strength, speed, and extensive combat training to move quickly, strike precisely, and disable opponents efficiently.

Favorite Weapon: Although trained to use some light weaponry such as daggers and pistols, Lukas prefers fighting unarmed using his martial arts skills whenever possible.

Interesting Fact: Upon meeting Gigas Lionhart, Lukas learned that the mystery surrounding his birth shares many very similar circumstances with his. After finding and stopping Klax with Gigas, Lukas learned that he too was a creation of the evil scientist, and has traces of human DNA. Having been created several years after Gigas, Lukas was made using further advanced technology, giving Lukas even further enhanced strength, speed, and agility.

Brief Background Story: Cassidy was adopted by a family of clothing makers in Lions Arch, growing up with a fairly normal childhood along with her adopted brother Lukas. When she became an adult, she followed in her parents' footsteps, working for them for a while before opening her own tailoring business. When her business was destroyed in the destruction caused by Scarlet Briar's invasion of Lion's Arch, she decided to take the opportunity to move to Divinity's Reach, where she has re-opened her business.

Personality: Outgoing, social, and boisterous. Cassidy's smart-alek remarks can sometimes get her into trouble, but behind her somewhat snarky and bratty exterior lies a deep generosity and compassion. She is very perceptive of people socially, and can often notice small things that indicate their feelings. She carries an admiration for her brother Lukas, and has a tendency to compare others against him, especially other men. She's also a romantic at heart, and enjoys reading romance novels in her spare time.

Combat Abilities: Cassidy has very limited combat training, preferring to rely on her wit and her protective brother Lukas to get her out of trouble. When she becomes significantly upset or scared though, her inherent potent necromancer abilities can manifest themselves, sometimes inadvertently harming allies as well as enemies. She also possesses a unique ability to negate all necrotic energy in her immediate vicinity for a time, though this also negates the effects of her own other necrotic abilities as well.

Favorite Weapon: A staff given to her by her trainer, Iduna Vesperden, a Norn necromancer and friend of Lukas and Valkari. She also carries her favorite book, "Roses of Ascalon".

Interesting Fact: When she was 5 years old her family's dog died, and in an emotional outburst Cassidy was able to animate it as an undead minion. Since then, Cassidy has shown increasingly strong necromancer-like abilities, although she despises it and actively tries to subdue them and hide it from others. This was recently explained through discovering that her birth mother, Evelyn Morgana, is actually a wielder of Witchcraft - a little-known but extremely powerful magic related to Necromancy, but originating from Dhuum rather than Grenth.

Brief Background Story: The inquest scientist Klax sought to create a super soldier, capable of making him all powerful. To do this, Klax created many experiments, including the hybrid project that resulted in the creation of Gigas Lionhart and Lukas Spark, as well as the aetheric infusion project. The combined research he gained was used to create his ultimate endeavor, titled the Titan Project. The result created a physically ideal being fused with immense aetheric energy, a complete success except for the one variable that could not be controlled - that of Titan's soul. Titan was designed to perceive and eliminate threats, but he quickly determined that Klax's interpretation of threats was not accurate, and began to rebel against his orders to eliminate innocent or non-dangerous targets. Once he began to see Klax himself as a threat, Klax labeled him as a failure, and fooled Titan into being locked into cryo-sleep. He remained there until being freed by Klax's daughter, Veksa, in a failed attempt to use Titan for her own nefarious purposes. Now awakened, and having eliminated both Veksa and Klax, Titan embarks on fulfilling his purpose of finding and eliminating the true threats in the world...

Personality: Curious and innocent, but also highly intelligent. Titan has absorbed vast amounts of knowledge about the world, but has had limited practical experience in it, causing him to often make rash or incomplete judgements about situations. Though he is very perceptive in general, he can be potentially fooled by deception rather easily. Although he can come across relatively ambivalent towards most "non-threats", he became fiercely loyal and protective over Verena after falling in love with her.

Combat Abilities: Titan has the power to control and manipulate the eternal alchemy through his extensive magical energy. This gives him the capability to transmute natural matter, either for destructive or restorative purposes. Among his abilities, he is able to teleport great distances, heal wounds rapidly, conjure smoldering firestorms, and create nearly impenetrable barriers. He is also able to sense both the potential destructive capability and hostility of any living being within a large radius around him.

Interesting Fact: Although the Titan Project was implemented just 5 years ago, his biological age is technically around 35, since he was initially aged artificially 30 years to ensure his full physical and mental maturity.

Brief Background Story: Alek grew up a fairly typical Norn, his childhood spent mainly around Hoelbrak. When he was a teenager, his parents were unexpectedly killed. In an attempt to reconcile his feelings of loss and frustration over this, he joined the Lionguard, where he has remained ever since. He was taken care of by his captain, Guldar, who he came to see as a new father figure. Guldar recently died in battle against Icebrood, and Alek took over his position as a Captain of the Shiverpeaks division of the Lionguard.
As he gradually got used to his new position of increased responsibility, he came across a young Norn woman named Astridae who had been living in the wilderness. Upon questioning her in concern for her safety, he quickly let down his professional demeanor as he was charmed by her beauty, kindness, and strength. He has been with her since then, after she was convinced to live with him in Hoelbrak.

Personality: Easy going, approachable, and charismatic, but tempered by a serious and responsible undertone. Despite being trained in the Lionguard for over a decade, he still has a tendency to act on his instincts and gut feelings, sometimes leading him to act recklessly. His aggressive tactics in combat usually have him leading the charge against opponents at the head of his allies.

Combat Abilities: Alek learned some basic combat techniques as a child, but did not realize he had a talent for healing and protective magic until he was analyzed by the Lionguard upon joining them. Since then, he has augmented his training with Guardian techniques, making full use of both his natural strength and magical abilities.

Favorite Weapon: Alek is trained in a variety of weapons, but prefers his trusty greatsword overall.  He has also been using a bow recently, learning from Astridae.

Interesting Fact: Alek's mentor, Guldar, is the Norn who initially found Lukas Spark as a baby and delivered him to the Spark family after mistakenly thinking he was human. Though Lukas grew up with a human family, he stayed in touch with Guldar, which in turn led him to became an aquaintance of Alek as well. After Guldar's death, Alek continued to maintain contact with Lukas, and their friendship became even stronger after losing their common mentor figure.

Brief Background Story: Draven was born into the wealthy noble house of Darkcastle. He grew up betrothed to marry the daughter of an allied family, Lily Darkholme, which was arranged between their parents when he was a child. This was presented as the usual thing to do, so he abided by it. Lily had a penchant for seeking pleasure and freedom though, and talked Draven into naively forming a practical agreement allowing her to see other people.
The Darkcastle family business endeavors of dye manufacturing and artistry shrouded a hidden family profession as assassins, using a unqiue form of mesmer magic called Spectography (see combat abilities). This secret was eventually betrayed by Evelyn Morgana, who his parents secretly worked for, and his parents were ultimately killed by the seraph as a result. Draven grew up learning Spectography techniques from his parents, but refused to follow the assassination ways of his parents, especially after their deaths. He has had to be diligent at keeping Spectography secret from others for his own safety regardless of this though. Some time after his parents' deaths, he enlisted into Morgana's group, intending to infiltrate it and somehow lead her into the hands of the seraph as she did to his parents. He ultimately failed at this goal, underestimating her resourcefulness, and had to go into hiding from her for a time to escape retaliation from Morgana and her group.
After Morgana's eventual death at the hands of Titan, Draven was able to come out of hiding. He was still aware of several of Morgana's followers though, and at one point became aware of a particularly nasty one kidnapping a woman. Unwilling to risk putting the woman in further danger by acting against him alone, he sought the help of the Serenity of the Night guild. Through the help of Leon Dunamis, the criminal was caught and the woman rescued. Through continued contact with Leon afterwards, Draven came into contact with Cassidy Spark as well, and learned she was in fact Morgana's daughter. Although initially very concerned about this, he was ultimately convinced of her innocence through assurances from Leon and his friends. His suspicion quickly gave way to becoming deeply impressed by Leon and Cassidy's love for others and each other, leading him to break off his betrothal to Lily Darkholme before his wedding could take place, as he started realizing that he really wanted more out of a relationship after all.

Personality: As high nobility, Draven is well spoken and elegant, but also deeply emotional. He has lived a fairly sheltered life, not knowing much outside the ways of nobility. He has rather high standards for behavior, and can sometimes come across as arrogant towards those he considers "undignified". Despite this, his often fancy way of dress and mannerism are mostly for show, and he secretly finds the done-up appearances of other nobles to be distasteful, admiring more modest women in particular. He values his work as a professional painter, and in addition to painting paid portraits for his clients, he also enjoys spending time painting landscapes of Divinity's Reach and Queensdale in particular. Although he finds combat to be generally distasteful, he continues to train his Spectography as a matter of habit and a perceived necessity for potential self-defense.

Combat Abilities: Draven uses a unique form of Mesmer magic called Spectography (Spectre+Photography), which originated and was passed down within his family line from generations ago. Using a specially designed paintbrush-shaped wand, he is able to rapidly sketch forms of animals or creatures in mid air, after which they become illusions with fully functional physical capabilities. The accuracy and power of the illusions' abilities relies heavily on the sketched shape being drawn completely and accurately, and as such requires a great deal of artistic skill.

Favorite Weapon: His paintbrush-shaped wand, a crucial aspect of using his Spectography techniques.

Brief Background Story: Kaelan was born into a relatively normal Norn family near Hoelbrak. As a young boy, he started showing potent magical abilities, and more importantly, the potential for mist travel. Due to this, he began training under Master Wiebe as a possible Havroun successor. His fiery disposition tended to clash with Wiebe's more calm demeanor though, and he often seemed more interested in fighting and glory than spiritual matters.
By the time he became a teenager, he had honed both his magic and combat abilities to a capable level. At age 15, he convinced Chieftain Whitebear to allow him to accompany a group of Norn on a trek to track a significant Icebrood gathering to the north, and most importantly be an integral part of a plan to eliminate the one leading them, a powerful Icebrood drake champion known as the Claw of Jormag. When the group arrived, they found themselves outnumbered, but began to attack anyway. The battle began, and as was planned by the group, Kaelan attempted to use his mist traveling ability to open a portal to travel through the mists directly to the drake, intending to strike a surprise (and hopefully lethal) blow to its head. Still somewhat inexperienced at using his magic for combat though, his portal opened elsewhere, emerging in a barren area of the Shiverpeaks far away from the battle, much to his dismay. He furiously remade the portal, but without success, again emerging away from the battlefield. Frustrated, he instead set out running back to the battle after emerging in an area he recognizes in relation to it. Arriving around half an hour later, he is shocked to see the remnants of the battle – the entire Norn group slain, along with many Icebrood, but the Claw of Jormag was gone.
Shocked and enraged, Kaelan had no choice but to return. He told his story of what happened to Whitebear and the elders upon reaching Hoelbrak. What the elders saw however was a boy who returned home alone, and with little evidence of battle on him. Rather than offering support to the stunned teenage boy, they questioned him suspiciously about the tale, suggesting him a coward, or even worse, a traitor. With the visible evidence seeming to be against him, Knut Whitebear, though seeming conflicted, had to make the difficult call to banish Kaelan from Hoelbrak.
Broken and disillusioned, Kaelan had to venture out into the Shiverpeaks on his own. As the shock gradually subsided though, it was replaced with anger and determination. Instead of trying to live out a typical solitary Norn life, he began using his powers more, experimenting with them, and diverging from what Wiebe had taught him in favor of honing them more for combat than spiritual purposes.
Now, over three years later, Kaelan has not attempted to return to Hoelbrak, but rather forged his own life apart from the main Norn society, living near Lion's Arch. His mastery over mist travel and magic has become extensive, allowing him to travel throughout Tyria and even beyond to other worlds.
He recently become a prominent member of a group of renegade Norns calling themselves “The Dragon's Tooth” that battle the Icebrood on their own terms. However, its leader, a man named Tyr, turned out to be a follower of Jormag in disguise, and ended up turning on the group while Kaelan was away. When his injured friend Talis returned as the only survivor, Kaelan angrily sought out Tyr and managed to defeat and kill him.
At the suggestion of his cousin Aleksander, Kaelan and Talis have now joined the Serenity of the Night guild, as he begins a new chapter of his life...

Personality: Aggressive and boisterous, to the point of sometimes seeming taunting, Kaelan is a strong-willed fighter by nature. He is courageous to a fault, acting recklessly in combat and social situations alike. He holds a grudge against the mainstream Norn society, actively rebelling against most of their ways and customs. He especially harbors animosity towards those loyal to Hoelbrak and Chief Whitebear, due to his tumultuous past with him and the elders there. Despite being rather harsh and even rude at times, his aggression is ultimately fueled by a deep sense of justice, and he sometimes shows the makings of a strong leader despite his young age. He can also show contrasting signs through her tough persona of being a regular young man, in interests such as fashionable clothing, delicious food, and pretty young women.

Combat Abilities: Kaelan uses his natural Havroun abilities of mist travel and energy manipulation to effectively bolster his natural combat abilities. He is able to use mist portals to teleport quite accurately both short and long range distances, and can also bolster his already proficient speed and athleticism with potent magical boons, becoming an untethered destructive force in combat that is difficult to catch, much less defeat.

Favorite Weapon: His self-named “Mistblade”, a transmutable weapon that can alter its shape and move according to his will after becoming magically bonded to him.
During one of his excursions into the Mists, Kaelan entered into a ritual room filled with cloaked Cultists. A strange looking sword-like weapon filled with mist was on a pedestal, with Chanters around it. They attacked him as he interrupted their ritual to bind it to their leader, whom he heard referred to as the Arch-Diviner. As a battle began within the room, Kaelan was able to quickly kill several of the Cultists, before his weapons were knocked from his hands by a barrage of ranged attacks from various sides. Finding himself inadvertently backed near the weapon, he impetuously grabbed it from its stand in order to defend himself. Upon touching it, he felt a strange surge of energy as it became bonded to him instead of its intended master, the Arch-Diviner. As he wielded the weapon, to his surprise it began changing shape and moving on its own. Seeming as if reading his thoughts, it proceeded to cut down his enemies in sync with him as quickly as he could think of attacking them. As the remaining Cultists lost their morale and hesitated to attack him, Kaelan used the distraction to create a portal and escape with the weapon, as the Arch-Diviner futilely shouted at his remaining followers to attack.

Interesting Fact: Kaelan's father Ulrik is the younger brother of Aleksander Stormkin's father Ulgof, making them cousins. He also has a red panda pet named “Scrapper” that he found injured in another world.

Brief Background Story: Talis is not from Tyria, but was instead born into the distant war-ravaged world his people knew as Heimr. In this world, the Norn lived amongst many other races, much like Tyria, but is absent of the other prominent races of human, asura, sylvari, and charr. Dragons have existed however, and the people of this world have been locked in a war against them for generations. Unfortunately this war seemed to be coming to a close as fewer and fewer people remained to fight it.
Talis grew up in one of the last remaining groups of survivors, a group of Norn desperately trying to carry on amidst certain destruction. As Talis became an adult, he learned to use his natural magic abilities as a Sage, a role similar to a Shrine Priest in Tyria. He was devoted to Raven Spirit specifically, which was able to reach this world through the mists in the same way as Tyria, and often prayed to Raven to guide him and the others.
As the mainland became devastated by the dragons' attacks against the final resistance, Talis' group had to flee their city as it was inevitably destroyed. The survivors escaped by ship to a volcanic island, and managed to eke out an existence there for several years amongst an otherwise decimated world.  
A dragon named Hveðrungr by the Norn eventually found them however, and the group made a last stand against it. Talis used his impressive magic and combat abilities to fell many of the dragon's minions, but the onslaught was too much for the relatively small group of remaining Norn to handle, and the people he knew and loved were gradually defeated and killed.
As his home became engulfed in dragon fire along with the rest of the settlement, Talis was able to instinctively shield himself with his magical abilities enough to survive. He reluctantly retreated to a hilltop untouched by the flames yet, and despite his grief, prepared to make one last futile stand.
As he prayed to Raven to carry him through the mists upon his death to his now deceased family and friends, he saw an unusual sight of a strange portal forming a short distance in front of him, and a teenage boy emerged from it. Talis was too stunned to respond as the boy introduced himself as Kaelan, being quickly interrupted by hearing the dragon's roar. Kaelan quickly responded to the roar by preparing to fight, while Talis quickly came to his senses and tried telling Kaelan of the situation. As Kaelan quickly took in the situation, even he reluctantly realized the futility of fighting back against it.
Realizing there was no place for Talis to go in this world, Kaelan decided to try something that he had not known to be done before, and that was to bring Talis with him through the mists. As the dragon and its minions closed in, Talis agreed to Kaelan's suggestion, and placed his trust in Raven to see them through it. Although Talis was not able to initially enter Kaelan's portal, they decided to try combining their magic, amplifying Kaelan's magical power with Talis'. After several attempts, it surprisingly worked, and Talis and Kaelan escaped through a portal to Tyria together, just as the hilltop was shattered by the dragon's strike.
It has been over a year since that day, and Talis has been gradually adjusting to life on Tyria. Being unfamiliar with the somewhat different Norn culture on Tyria, he has remained with Kaelan living near Lion's Arch rather than attempting to integrate into Hoelbrak. Talis can often be found with Kaelan, having developed a close relationship almost like brothers. He has taken the name Heimlauss (“home lost”) in this world as a reminder of his lost homeland.

Personality: Due to the tense situation in his doomed homeworld, Talis has experienced much hardness and loss, and had to age beyond his years. He is in some ways a regular young man though, and can still often come across as polite, approachable, and good natured, despite having gone through so much hardship. He also has a great deal of wisdom, as would be expected from a Priest, as well as a great deal of guile and perceptiveness that he employs when needed. He considers Kaelan to have been brought to him by Raven spirit, feeling indebted to him for saving his life, and looks after him and protects him fiercely as a result. Talis' calmer demeanor allows him to often act as a voice of reason to counter Kaelan's aggressive recklessness.

Combat Abilities: Talis learned combat abilities from a young age, as were taught to everyone in her society, and he was found to excel at archery in particular. He is able to imbue his arrows with magic, further helping them shoot with nearly pinpoint accuracy, even against moving targets at long distances. He also uses his natural magical affinity for powerful healing and protective abilities, allowing him to withstand and recover from attacks that others would not.

Favorite Weapon: His staff and bow, two of the few belongings he brought with him from his world. They act as sentimental memories as well as his most trusted weapons, and he is rarely without them as a result.  

Interesting Fact: Talis differs from Tyrian Norn in that his people grew up in a much warmer climate, and he is not very accustomed to the cold as a result. The different atmosphere of Tyria also takes a slight toll on him, and he frequently uses his magic to affect the air around him to make it more accommodating to his slightly different physiology.

Brief Background Story: Theresa grew up in Divinity's Reach with her middle-class family, learning their mesmeric magic, and living a fairly normal city life. She admired her older sister Psyche, but was a little more rebellious than her in general. As a teenager, this led her to befriend a dangerous teenage boy named Thomas, who ended up traumatically taking advantage of her. Since then, she has been much more guarded about people, and has taken up training a bit more seriously, wanting to advance her mesmer abilities as Psyche has.

Personality: A typical teenage girl for the most part, trying to find herself while enjoying life. She is prone to distractions easily, and Psyche tends to get onto her for not being more serious. Although somewhat outgoing in general, she can be shy and bashful as well, and her violent ordeal at the hands of Thomas has left her a bit shaken. Although she admires her sister, she doesn't always follow in her footsteps, wishing to establish herself as her own person. She has also become friends with Cassidy, who she sometimes asks for advice on both clothing and relationships.

Combat Abilities: Theresa's combat experiences and training are limited, but Psyche has been helping her to become more adept at using her powers. She has not been found to excel at Psyche's telepathic abilities, but instead to have a knack for telekinesis, being able to pull or push objects, teleport herself and others short distances, and even temporarily affect gravity within her proximity to a limited degree.

Favorite Weapon: A fancy wand, which doubles as both a weapon and fashion accessory.

Brief Background Story: Griffin was born into the Arcana family, bearing the name of his father, Griffin Arcana, and being the older brother of Falcon Arcana. The Arcana estate was attacked and burned when he was 6 years old, killing his parents. He fled the mansion in the commotion, ending up running to the shoreline of a nearby waterway, where he boarded and hid on a Zephrite ship docked there. After the ship departed towards Cantha, they found young Griffin aboard. When they arrived in Cantha, he was taken in by a man named Sho Tsukikage, a Canthan lord, who raised him with his own family in a manor in the countryside.
Sho kept some Tengu in his home, hidden from the zealous ministry of purity, who has decreed that no sentient life was allowed in Cantha that was not human. Sho's own children were significantly older than Griffin, but he befriended one of the Tengu children, a male named Kyuu Thunderwing, and they grew up as unlikely brothers. When Griffin was an adult, he dated a girl known to the family, but she eventually cheated and broke up with him to be with a man that was associated with a rival family, the Osenako house. The Osenako family came to learn of  the existance of the Thunderwing family through her, and alerted the ministry of the existence of the Tengu there. The Thunderwings were discovered and deported, but Griffin went with them, feeling partly responsible since he initially told the girl about them in the first place while dating her. He also remembered that his family lineage in Tyria might lead to being able claim any leftover wealth that was to be his through his family heritage, and in turn provide for the Thunderwings to live comfortably in Tyria.
Griffin was able to leave Cantha with some limited funds, but not enough to get the Thunderwing family to Tyria. He and the Thunderwings ended up at the nearby Battle Isles, an island outside of Canthan or any other law, and spent half a year making money from he and Kyuu fighting in the gladiatorial arenas there. Once he had made enough, he bought passage on a ship to Tyria for him and Kyuu, and they made the journey north to seek out his family fortune, in order to find a way to get the rest of the Thunderwing family to Tyria.

Personality: Unlike his brother Falcon, Griffin is more level headed, but still can be driven to rash decisions when he considers a situation to require it. He has a strong disliking towards the Osenako family, and will fight against them and protect anyone they target, especially anyone connected to the Tsukikage family. He values his home of Cantha, and considers it fondly, despite having a strong dislike towards the reigning government and ministry of purity there. He tends to be eager to help out anyone who he likes or seems to have noble intentions, and also to fight for whatever causes he finds to be righteous.

Combat Abilities: Griffin has the ability to reflect spells used against him, as well as mimic and copy most forms of magic he sees others use, to a limited degree. He is also highly trained in martial combat, and wields his twin swords with speed and efficiency in combat.

Favorite Weapon: Dual swords he brought with him from Cantha, forged by his adopted family for him.

Brief Background Story: Kayla grew up in Hoelbrak with her parents and older brother, Kaelan. Kaelan started showing signs of being a potential Havroun, which Kayla felt somewhat envious of, as he started training with Havroun Wiebe. When Kaelan left Hoelbrak in dishonor, she felt conflicted though, torn between feeling upset but also sympathetic towards his situation. She began distracting herself with her life and hobbies, but always wondered what happened to him.

Personality: Kayla shares Kaelan's outgoing nature, but also comes across as somewhat sheltered. She has been content to stay in Hoelbrak for the most part, venturing to the other cities through the Asura gates, but disinterested in hunting or exploring the wilderness. Instead, she prefers engaging in her hobbies of training, playing Keg Brawl, and reading, mostly historical and informational books. Despite her somewhat sheltered nature, she does have a curiosity about the world, and is interested in learning about new things and experiences.

Combat Abilities: Kayla lacks much combat experience, but has trained in several combat techniques throughout her life. She became interested in learning about Canthan and Elonan martial arts after she discovered some historical texts describing them, and has blended their techniques into her fighting style. She has also trained in the use of several weapon types, but prefers swords overall.

Favorite Weapon: Kayla prefers swords as her weapon of choice, and favors a lightweight rapier in particular over more traditional bulky Norn swords.

Interesting Fact: Although lacking Kaelan's mist-traveling and other Havroun abilities, Kayla shows some faint mystical abilities of her own, being able to sometimes see and feel certain spiritual things others often cannot.

Brief Background Story: Fiona awoke in the typical way for Sylvari, having gathered information in the dream from the Pale Tree's knowledge, but without a Wyld Hunt directing her as some sylvari have. Once awakened, she lived in the Grove for a while, but grew discontent with what she began to see as petty quarrels between the Pale Tree's followers and the other outside factions of sylvari.
When Mordremoth awakened, she became interested in seeking out more information about him. She found out about the newly created Pact and enlisted in it, being easily accepted for her unique combat abilities. While in the Pact, she explored the maguuma with her squad, made up of mostly sylvari, but led by a human named Malcolm. She gradually got to know Malcolm more, and they started having feelings for each other, eventually entering into an unlikely romantic relationship together.
As the Pact fought its way closer to Mordremoth, Fiona's squad encountered one of his generals, which although they managed to defeat, was able to affect their group with Mordremoth's influence. The other sylvari turned on the squad, and began to fight the non-sylvari that were able to resist it more. Fiona was able to resist it, but barely, and it incapacitated her significantly. As she tried to recover from the mental interference, she witnessed Malcolm and the others be defeated and killed by their sylvari friends. Assuming she would be turned as well, the new mordrem didn't attack her until it was too late, as she was able to gain control over her mind and powers enough to rip them apart using her powers.
Mordremoth was defeated soon after her harrowing ordeal, and she set out to distract herself from her grief by searching the Maguuma jungle for survivors, in the hopes to rescue them after failing to protect her friends and lover...

Personality: Fiona is curious and inquisitive, even more so than most sylvari, but also unconcerned with the struggles between the factions of the Pale Tree, Nightmare Court, and soundless. Despite her recent loss of her friends and love, she still manages to comes across fairly friendly, outgoing, and optimistic when talking to people. She is often very calm in combat, being used to relying on her abilities to make most normal threats unsubstantial to her. She cares deeply about her fellow sylvari, and the other sentient races in general, but can come across as somewhat insensitive at times towards the plights of others that she deems unsubstantial.

Combat Abilities: Although all Sylvari can control plantlife to a degree, Fiona excels at it far beyond what is normal. She is able to create and manipulate virtually any plantlife around her into whatever she wishes, using her natural power of vegetative telekinesis. Her time with the Pact helped her further her abilities even more, honing her abilities to entangle enemies remotely and provide protective measures and healing for her and her allies. She is also able to create sylvan hounds and high powered turrets to attack her foes, which act with a rudimentary self-autonomy, identifying and attacking targets independently of her perception. Due to her power's parallels to necromancy, she sometimes jokingly refers to herself as a "Floramancer".

Favorite Weapon: Fiona is able to forge various weapons out of any plant material as needed, but prefers most often using her self-created bow.
