Calling guitar fans...
Wed May 12, 2010 8:44 pm
I have GRX40 that... sadly, broke its first string and I kinda want to do some heavy metal type music and was going to buy 11-70 type strings, and maybe 1 or 2 pedals. Any suggestions?
Btw, im a newb at guitars. I can read tabs but that's about it.

I always liked the flange (spelling?) petal sound, but not so sure it fits heavy metal per say. I have had a few guitars in my day. My dad let me play his Gibson Les Paul Original when I was first learning, but that was years ago. I don't remember much from my days playing guitar, so I'm sorry I can't be of much help on that front.

Well I use regular slinky Ernie Ball strings, but I'm thinkin of switching to extra slinky which are 11's. Probably the best choice for metal. Also basically any distortion pedal works for metal, just depends on what kind of tone you like I love reverb and comp pedals too, but it's all preferece.
